THIS COURSE OFFERS A SURVEY OF SEMINAL DESIGN THEORY TEXTS, WRITTEN AT DIFFERENT MOMENTS IN TIME AND IN VARYING CONTEXTS, FROM RUSKIN TO BLAUVELT. THE READINGS REPRESENT A RANGE OF IDEAS THAT HAVE MOTIVATED, AS WELL AS EXPLAIN WORKS OF GRAPHIC DESIGN AND TYPOGRAPHY. AS A CLASS WE CONSIDER THESE TEXTS AS A MEANSTO CONSIDER OUR OWN CONTEXT IN THE SHAPING IN THE SHAPING OF TODAY’S GRAPHIC DESIGN.
