THE GREAT WIDE OPEN: PANORAMIC PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE AMERICAN WEST
HUNTINGTON MUSEUM AND GARDENS, SAN MARINO, CALIFORNIA
THE EXHIBITION EXPLORED HOW PHOTOGRAPHS HAVE SHAPED VARIOUS IDEAS AND UNDERSTANDINGS OF THE AMERICAN WEST. DESIGNED WITH ARCHITECTS, DURFEE|REGN, AN ENVIRONMENT WAS CREATED THAT APPEARED OPEN AND BOUNDLESS, CORRESPONDING TO THE SPATIAL QUALITIES OF THE WESTERN LANDSCAPE THAT INSPIRED THE USE OF THE PANORAMIC FORMAT FOR THE SHOW’S ARTISTS.
